[December 21, 2006] As of today, The Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome Network site is closed. I started this site over ten years ago, when there was almost no information about Progeria available on the Internet. Since then, I've talked with hundreds (thousands?) of people interested in finding out more about this fatal aging disease, met dozens of kids and families affected by it, and watched awareness of and support for the cause grow.

HGPS.net originally served to compile the limited scattered information about Progeria in one place to help students and others learn more. Today, though, there is another great resource that has become the definitive source for medical, social, and historical information about Progeria, and that's the Progeria Research Foundation's site. I will be redirecting my efforts to helping the PRF advance their mission to increase awareness about Progeria and find a cure. I'm transferring information from this site to theirs and will be contributing to their site from here on out.
